It's really simple
It's really simple. If I can sign up for it online, I should be able to cancel it online. Making me ring up, give my name, be transferred, wait on hold then listen to a retention pitch is what's called a 'sludge practice' and should be illegal.

I won't make the mistake of subbing to the Times again.

Inability to bill the correct subscription
So, based upon the current rating, my experience is not unusual. Having spent hours over numerous phone calls to the so called 'customer services', I have finally reached the end of my tether. The amount of times I have had to call to request a refund where my discount had not been applied correctly. On this occasion, the previous operative did not make any notes on their system for extending my discount as a gratuity for all the problems I had encountered. Unable to reason with the individual today, I have now cancelled my subscription.

The conetnet and quality of the articles is just as you would expect from The times. The issue is just cancelling your subscription and they seem to make it as difficult as possible .

The newspaper it self is fine though I do think the overall quantity of the content has dipped as I am getting through the paper quicker.

My main issue is my pack is now more expensive so I went onto live chat to cancel or look for a cheaper option the advisor took me through options to tell me to ring in.

Should offer more control over the account on chat/website

Similar issues as most people here
Similar issues as most people here. Did the trial period and then found cancelling very difficult. Continued paying for a couple month and eventually cancelled. When I spoke to the rep out cancelling and feedback he couldn't care less. I am shocked by my experience from an institution like The Times. I am currently happy paying reasonable subscription fees with other online news outlets.

Beware of unscrupulous tactics by The Times
Registered for a £1.00 per month for 3 month
with The Times they have started to take £26.00 each month after that.
I am not able to cancel online. I called called them and said I had been in hospital, they quoted terms and conditions.
I asked to cancel but they would not let me, said I need to notify another department.
I've cancelled my PayPal and DD it's a totally unethical the way they do business.
Going back to Evening Standard for free newspaper

Cloak & Dagger Subs Technique
I cannot remember subscribing to The Times, but suddenly got a £26 debit off of my Paypal account.
Had to go through the rigmarole of cancelling this via a Live Chat & asking for a refund because I have never used this account to read the news. Basically, The operators response was "tough luck" you agreed to the T&C's. Hopefully News UK and Ireland Limited will be insolvent soon.

Signed up for a trial but decided to cancel before the trial ended. There is no option to cancel online so I called the helpline. After waiting on hold they refused to cancel the subscription because it was <2 days before the payment date. So I said take the payment but please cancel anyway. They refused and said I would need to call back in the future! DO NOT SIGN UP THEY MAKE IT VERY DIFFICULT TO CANCEL.

TERRIBLE AND DISGUSTING COMPANY
Registered for a free trial with The Times and used it once, not I am not able to cancel. Unlike all other service, you CANNOT cancel online. You need to call them and it is 2022. There is even a sales woman called me on my phone number to chase me for the money of £26 for digital newspaper. Without all the inflation and rising cost now and they charge £26 for digital newspaper, it is cruel and ridiculous.

They have absolutely no idea what…
They have absolutely no idea what they're writing about.

This story they published about Knebworth 2022 [Liam Gallagher] is inaccurate, I personally attended and it's a completely false representation of the event.

Cancelling is difficult
Got a free trial to read an Article that seems interesting. It isn't possible to cancel online, you need to phone. In 2022 this seems like a scam. No reputable company should make it hard to cancel a subscription.

Terrible
Terrible. I was offered £26 credit on my account for three months when I rang up to cancel my subscription as they don’t do refunds? The person on the phone said my account would be closed and subscription cancelled after this three month period. Today I have been charged again after ringing up in February and being assured my subscription would be cancelled after my three months. Called up again to get a refund, was told again they don’t do refunds and to ring again in three months. Insane policy, awful service.
£52 for something I don’t use and have tried to cancel twice.

Get you to sign up online then don't offer cancellation online. Long wait to get cancellations and they won't take no for an answer. Avoid.

Dreadul
Dreadul. I tried to cancel by calling their call centre, they say they have cancelled you but they don't actually cancel it. I stopped the direct debit but then they just hound you with sales calls. They even add "credit" to your account to try to make you more beholden to them. Totally unethical. I really wish I'd checked out the reviews on here before I signed up!
Oh, and the app is awful, it doesn't work most of the time.
I quite like reading the cricket pages though.
